Sweet baby Opal! Loved having her & family in the studio last weekend. She was closer to 6 weeks for this session, but still just the tiniest little angel baby and still gave us a stretch of snoozing for the classic "newborn pose" pictures. It was fun to also capture some bright-eyed shots with her being a bit more awake, especially since she has such big blue eyes.
Such a great family full of many doting siblings to help care for this little girl. Loved seeing the interactions with her.
Also, this session is the perfect reminder that a newborn session doesn't have to happen ASAP. While it's often recommended to get those babies in the studio within 1-2 weeks of birth, sometimes it's not always possible to make it happen right away for varying reasons, and that's OK. In some ways, waiting a bit yields a different variety of shots that you may not get with a sleepy newborn. Just a PSA that if you're a Mom with a 4 week old baby and think, "Well, I missed my window of newborn pictures so it's pointless to get them now," I'm here to say IT'S NOT. You will cherish ANY newborn session you capture, whether baby is 5 days old or 5 weeks old!
Typically, I prepare for every newborn photo shoot by laying out unique options for a few different poses. However, I knew Opal had 2 older sisters coming, and that they'd love (and rock!) choosing what she wore. Rosie & Elowen did an amazing job of coordinating her head bands, wraps, & accessories for each of the poses 😍
