Little brother of 3 older sisters ✨💕 Is there a better place to be? SO much love. I love newborn sessions so much because it’s such a unique window of time… babies are really only in this stage truly for a few weeks. Before long, their little look is already changing, they stretch out from that “newborn curl” and wake up a bit. To be able to capture the sweet tininess is a treasure. And I know moms will look back on these for years and say, “how were you EVER this little?” 🥹 Also love getting to incorporate meaningful items during these shoots… the last pic is little Nash in front of a quilt of his grandpa’s most worn shirts. How special is that… he may never get a chance to meet him during this earthly life but being so fresh from heaven, I bet he got a little smooch from him already before coming earth-side ❤️

I’ll be honest… I DID have the thought, “Do I really need to do this session?😏…” Pippa just turned 5 and Phoebe just turned 2. As a photographer, I very much value milestone shoots, but it felt like a lot of work to figure out what they were going to wear, wrestle them through a session, edit the pics, etc.

And then I thought… this is probably exactly what my photog clients feel like most of the time. You may not have to take the pics or edit them, but sometimes taking the step to decide they’re important and booking them and getting to the shoot without conflict or illness is half the battle!

I AM SO GLAD I TOOK THESE. The session itself was kind of a nightmare… mostly because Phoebe is a 2 year old now 🤪 Pippa actually is seeming so grown up and listened so well and relished getting her picture taken. Phoebe was true to 2 year old form and once she figured out my goal, she fought against it the entire session like a caged feral animal.

I walked away from the session a bit dejected… exhausted from trying to make this happen and wondered if I even got anything decent. Then I loaded the pics onto my computer and was instantly humbled. I had failed to remind myself of the truth that I always tell ya’ll… the camera tells the story. It does such a good job of picking up personality, connection, behavior, nuance. Yes… I’m clicking the button. But the magic ALWAYS happens, despite how you might feel the session actually went. 💕

I love it that I will have these to look back on and remember this snippet in time… Pippa’s sweet and sugary self, her tiny little voice, pixie haircut, spunky poses and caring spirit. And Phoebe’s smiley demeanor, her ornery antics and energetic existence.

Photo Tip: I often say, DON’T shoot your subject with a window behind them. See how I broke my own rule?? Photography can certainly be nuanced! Why was it Ok in this instance?
1) The room I took this picture in is WELL lit with natural light… light comes in from the sides & above her, so I could grab this shot without it being too backlit.
2) Also noticed how the sun is streaming in on the side… this fan actually give you a pretty, sun-flared, whimsical look when shot this way!

Merry Christmas ✨ A little update from my family to yours 💕 I’ve been quiet on this account for the past few months as I wrapped up my busy season and then took some much needed time off to focus on friends & family ❤️ I’ll be back more consistently toward the beginning of 2025! Are you guys as excited as Roy is that Christmas is just around the corner?! This season has flown by! ✨ A few weekends ago, we got to visit one of my favorite coffee shops so I could photograph the world’s cutest little boy whose parents own it… who wouldn’t buy a cup of coffee or lunch from this kid?? But seriously, the coffee and food is delicious and I’d be in serious trouble if it wasn’t 45 minutes from my house 😅 Love getting to watch this bright eyed boy grow and capture him in a place that he frequents ❤️

Can you tell I’m behind on sharing these peeks due to the fact that we were actually outdoors without getting frost bite during the taking of these pictures? 🍁☀️ Our delightful Fall weather has vanished and polar temperatures have entered in its wake! I’m just so thankful that the mild temps lasted as long as they did… the outdoor sessions this past season were perfect 🫶🏻 & this family’s session was no exception! We took these out on their beautiful property just a few weekends ago. The foliage was still colorful at that point and was even giving spring-like vibes. So sweet to be able to capture them out in nature, and my favorite part is that candid falling leaf in the first picture! 🍂

Sweetest sesh in my studio a few weeks back… one day, I’ll get caught back up with sneak peeks 😁 This little girl was so fun and reminded me of my Phoebe with her sweet mixed with sassy. 💕 It’s been so special watching her grow since being a newborn and also, she always comes wearing the cutest.accessories.ever ✨

My best photo tip for holidays is very simple:
Take the picture of your family… but let go of perfection. 
I’ll go first… 😁 just check out the picture I posted. I took SEVERAL pictures to get this less-than-perfect version. But I still love it, because it’s grounded in reality and while not perfectly posed, it does perfectly depict where we are right now. ❤️

There’s always one photo shoot every year that falls on the perfect day to truly capture Fall in all of its beauty, sunlight, and color… and this one was it ✨🍁☀️ Loved getting to capture this delightful & darling family in their very own backyard… which extended beyond us with rolling fields and colorful trees as far as the eye can see.

How fun is this family 🤩 Fall sessions are in full swing right now and I’m here for all of the golden beauty and colorful magic! 🍁

I’ve done a handful of these “girly” shoots for this family over the years… they are some of my favorite ones to do. There’s something about a Mom and her girls 💞 Also, not sure when these little ladies grew up so fast but ⏰💨! Loved spending a golden Fall evening with them… and don’t worry, I have more to share from this family soon because we did back to back sessions with their entire family after this one! ☀️

Sweet Elowyn 🩷 I love little angel babies in my studio. She is a tiny but mighty one… decided she wanted to party awake most of the session 😅 but we she did eventually drift off 👼🏻 So great getting to meet this little one and watch this family grow.

Well it’s exactly one week after this session and I’m finally getting their sneak peek posted… my sessions with this family are always so special. Every year, we do them at their home in the country where their mom grew up ❤️🌾 It’s so great to see each of these sweet souls grow older among the same scene each year, and use both familiar and new spaces between their miles of farmland, trees, fences, roads, and open skies. Such a reminder of God’s beauty in both creation and people! This year was the perfect mid-October Fall session, and we used every minute of daylight before the glowing golden sun set in the distance ✨ Thanks, Steidingers for letting me tell your family’s story over all these years 🥹

Charlotte & family… the sweetest little one packed with so much personality, and also the same age as Phoebe and the 3rd of 3 siblings so I felt right at home during this shoot 😅 I love those active little ornery babies! She’s just as sweet as sugar and always love capturing the family moments, too ❤️

Obsessed with these 🫶🏻✨🩷 Also, this adorable family is pure magic and we got about a million darling shots in about 30 minutes flat. The sweetest of sisters who were so cooperative… Leah & Ryan listened pretty well, too 😉 SO grateful to have these people living closer by these days! Thanks for letting me capture this snippet in time 🍁

Such sweet, lovely families that are filing up my October schedule… this one had all boys and they were equal parts adorable & energy! ✨

Alllllways love my time with this family. That first shot is one of my faves because it so clearly shows the personality of each person 😅🩷 Cannot believe how much these kids grow each year, especially because their mom and I are still supposed to be in Jr. High and working at Morton DQ together, right @onelittlemama ?!

When you pick out 20+ pictures for the sneak peek 😅 you know it’s going to be a session that’s super difficult to cull. So many sweet moments! My fave is possibly the one of their oldest (close to my Phoebe’s age) amidst all the goldenrod looking back at me with the cutest but most mischievous little smile… I know that smile very well 😂 Sweetest fam and loved getting to capture their newest member, too 💙

I don’t always take pictures of graduating seniors… but when I do, it’s usually because it’s one of my nieces or nephews 😄 It’s such an honor to get to capture each one. We have a senior on my side of the family almost every single year 💙 This year was Beau’s turn. He’s the best kid with the best heart and I can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon for him!
